Who are Tutor Lessons suitable for?

Greater depth learning

Greater depth learning – some children crave a quicker pace and deeper levels of learning within their lessons. This is because they have understood the topics that have come before and have a solid foundation with which to continue. The pace at which a whole class moves can sometimes seem a little slower than they require to flourish and so they begin to become frustrated. This is where a one-to-one tutor can really benefit them, with a completely focused session which challenges and bolsters their style of thinking.

SEND pupils

SEND pupils – children with SEN often find it difficult to share their struggles with learning in front of their classmates. This can lead to a lack of confidence and low self esteem where many other children’s learning styles are also being catered to. Qualified teachers can help this group by demonstrating learning techniques which are suited to them and then work through them together.

Catchup learning

Catchup learning – sadly COVID meant that many children were affected by gaps in learning and have not since had a chance to catch-up. This can be debilitating for those who were previously confident in their learning or others who never had the chance to build the early learning skills in reception or KS1. It can cause the child to feel unconfident in their abilities due to gaps in their knowledge. With tutoring, a qualified teacher will want to return to basics in order to build strong foundations for future knowledge growth.

SATS study

SATS study – the exams which occur in years 2 and 6 to track your child’s progress in English and maths. For some children this can be nerve racking and so regular tutoring lessons can help build confidence in their learning ability, by honing in on weaker areas and reinforcing existing knowledge with regular practise of specific questions.

Home-schoolers

Home-schoolers – as a parent, you want the best for your child and home-schooling can seem like the perfect answer to tailoring an education to your child’s learning style. However, a qualified teacher can act as a means of emotional support and for the subject areas where you feel less confident, they can offer individual expertise. It is enjoyable and rewarding to watch your child grow academically as you teach them full time, but a teacher will be able to give you a well-earned break once in a while with focused and time efficient lessons.

Clarification of learning

Clarification of learning – In any week, your child is likely to have many questions about the topics that they are learning about and it is really helpful to be able to follow up on this whilst the information is fresh in their mind. A regular lesson with a tutor can help to clear up any misconceptions and deepen understanding in any areas of particular interest.
